Our Story - Family Run for Family Fun
Buoy & Oyster was founded by husband & wife team Nadine & Simon Morriss in Nadine's hometown of Margate in 2015
Simon has been a chef since he was 15 when on a busy service working as a waiter was asked to "lend a hand" plating up. This led to an exciting 10 years of working in hotel & restaurant kitchens in Windsor until meeting Nadine & pursuing a career within luxury hospitality working together throughout Europe.
Home is where the heart is and after falling in love with an old cocktail bar in a Grade 2 listed building overlooking the beach in Margate, the idea of Buoy and Oyster was born. Our aim is to create a "fun dining" experience celebrating honest, local ingredients & creating food that makes you happy
Margate is an incredible town with so much to do and we want to create a "holiday" at home feeling. Think cocktails, sea views, music & platters of fresh shellfish. Relax & stay for the afternoon & most importantly have fun & unwind with your friends & family...that's what it's all about
Our Head Chef, Craig Edgell joined the team in 2019 & shares our passion for local produce, seafood, honest ingredients & creating a relaxed, welcoming & family friendly dining environment....& buoy does he cook an epic roast too!
